Back in 1985 this is the kind of stuff that all the cool kids were grooving to. I can’t say I’m much of a fan, Sister Sledge had some better singles than this – Lost In Music is a cheesy disco classic – and I have to admit to wishing I had been born at a time of better taste. Or at least in a week when the number one song had profound meaning. Because I like stuff like that.
I suppose the tenuous link here is that ‘Frankie’ is a boy who a girl used to be in love with. And then he went away. Does it count that after a year of flirting and then two years apart, the husband finally asked me out? No, thought not.
Perhaps more profound is the number one song from the week that Beans was born. I bloody hate Bruno Mars but his lyrics are pretty spot on:
When I see your face, there’s not a thing that I would change
Cause you’re amazing, just the way you are
And when you smile, the whole world stops and stares for a while
Cause girl you’re amazing, just the way you are.
That’s quite enough sickly sentiment for one week. What was number one when you made your entrance into the world?

I absolutely love Frankie – it’s one of the songs that most reminds me of being a teenager (a very young teenager, I should add). We had a dance routine and everything for it!
oh i bloody love this song! i was about three when it came out and I distinctly remember bopping to it!! xx
I loved Frankie. My cousin and I made up a dance routine to this!
Lovely bit of nostalgia, reminds me of primary school, and making up dances like red rose mummy said.
