Last night, as I lay awake again courtesy of insomnia, I was granted plenty of time to think. When I had had my fill of thinking, I read some blogs. And then I thought some more.
Earlier this week Mammasaurus wrote about the effect blogging can have on your real life, your relationships and your family. We started blogging around the same time and a lot of what she said rung true. Continue reading →
I have tried everything to help me sleep. From hot chocolate to counting sheep to hot, lavender scented baths to no food after 6pm. Everything including laying in the darkness waiting for sleep to come. It never does. Was it something I said?
Insomnia, somewhat unsurprisingly, breeds tiredness. And tiredness does not maketh a happy mama. Or, in Boos words: dada. No sweetheart, mama. DADA! That’s that settled then.
For anyone who hasn’t come across it already, Daft Mamma‘s blog is a fantastic read. From a personal point of view I love reading other blogs also committed to breaking the stigma that surrounds postnatal depression.
Yesterday Angeline posted about a brilliant service open to everyone, where ever and whoever they may be, that are suffering in any way with postnatal depression. I think this is such a thoughtful and fantastic idea and I know that knowing support was just a text or an email away would help me in times of need. Continue reading →
We’ve had the lifting head clear of the ground, the rolling over and the sitting up milestones. Rolling became Boos way of getting around and as the strength in her legs increased she progressed to commando crawling.
Commando crawling is still where she is at, mobility wise but boy is she determined to get up and walk. In the last week alone she has learnt how to sit from laying down and can also go up onto her knees and kneel up. She’s bored of the commando way now, she wants to walk. I’m not sure I’m ready for that! Continue reading →
Do you see that? Do you? And don’t be polite and say no, or that it’s just blonde, or that it’s not the beginning of the end.
That my friends is a GREY HAIR. An actual grey hair from my actual head.
This is quite an upsetting moment for me. I have never had a grey hair before. Ever. I am only 26, what is it doing there?! Who does it think it is, living on my head and growing and everything. And to make it worse (could it be? Really?) it was happily growing right at the front where it can be seen by the world. Continue reading →
Last Sunday I went to the first of two Baptism preparation classes for Boo.
The husband was spared the trauma (he still hasn’t recovered from the marriage preparation class we had to do over a year ago) while he looked after Boo.
Rather than ramble on about how I nearly gave up and came home because I didn’t know what a prespetary was let alone where to find it, how uncomfortable I felt trying to be ‘proper’ and speak in public and not giggle in inappropriate places, and how it was hard to make conversation with the other couples there, I thought I would instead ramble about a question that came up while we were there. I am in love with this idea. What more could anyone want to drop through their letter box in the morning than a fabulous box of sweeties!
And with Send Happiness you get just that. A couple of quick clicks on their website and your recipient will receive a cute box, a personalised message and a load of retro sweets or even chocolate. It’s such a nice idea and when my little box of happiness arrived it certainly put a smile on my face!
Boxes start at £3.99 (luxury boxes are also available) and they offer party packs too (from £2) which make a lovely alternative/addition to party bags.
